Ovid Jackson is mayor of Owen
Sound, Grey County's urban centre
with a population of 19,800. Named
after Admiral William Fitzwilliam
Owen of the British Navy and incor-
porated as a town in 1857, it officially
became a city in 1920. The city
features more than 200 acres in 34
parks, including Harrison Park, as
well as the Tom Thomson Art Gal-
lery, the Grey Owen Sound Mu-
seum, and a natural harbour. Bill
Murdoch (below) is county warden.
