JUNIOR FARMERS
Harvey Radbourne, president of the
Grey County Junior Farmers.
Four signs welcoming visitors to
Grey County and the International
Plowing Match have been erected by the
Grey County Junior Farmers.
Each of the four clubs in the county,
including Desboro, Chatsworth, South -
East Grey, and Rocklyn, were respon-
sible for placing a sign.
The county Junior Farmers are also
growing vegetables in a garden plot as
part of a provincial campaign to give
produce to a food bank. Alex Leith, a
rural organizations specialist assistant
with the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture
and Food, donated some of his land for
the project.
The three-quarters of an acre that
Leith had promised turned out to be
closer to two acres, says county presi-
dent Harvey Radbourne. Members
planted about one acre of potatoes and
vegetables. Clubs take turns weeding.
The Grey County Junior Farmers are
also organizing the zone conference for
Grey, Bruce, Huron, and Perth counties
to be held in Markdale this October.
Radboume works with his father on
their dairy farm west of Owen Sound.
Karen Waldie of Thornbury is county
secretary. Club presidents include Bev
Johnson of Chatsworth, Harvey Rad-
bourne of Desboro, John Pearson of
Rocklyn, and Brent Hargrave of South -
