LOWING MATCH EDITION
NEW QUEEN
TO BE CHOSEN
From across the province, 35 queens
will be coming to Grey County for the
1987 Queen of the Furrow Competition.
Lori Hamilton of Trenton, the reign-
ing queen, will crown the new queen at
the September 17 banquet in Meaford.
The new queen will receive count-
less donated gifts, including the keys to
a new car for use during her one-year
tenure. It is her responsibility to pro-
mote the IPM.
"I've been busy ever since I won the
title and I'm still going strong," says
Lori Hamilton. She has visited farm
shows, county plowing matches, annual
banquets, schools, Women's Institute
meetings, and4-H and service organiza-
tions. Hamilton holds a diploma in ag-
riculture from Kemptville College of
Agricultural Technology.
The contestants this year will be
judged in several categories, including
plowing ability, appearance and deport-
ment, speech -making, and an interview.
Each of the 52 plowing associations
in the province may sponsor a queen
between 16 and 25 years of age. Five of
Grey County's six plowing associations
and are sponsoring queens.
