INTRODUCING YOUR HOSTS
John Lowe on the host farm.
John and Velma Lowe, the hosts of
the 1987 International Plowing Match,
own 280 acres and rent 130, all of which
are being used for the match. In addi-
tion, 28 landowners within a one -mile
radius will provide land for parking.
About 700 acres are needed to meet
the requirements of the Tented City, the
plowing activities, and parking for the
10,000 cars expected daily.
The Lowes, who have six girls and
two boys, operate a 350 -head beef feed-
lot with their son, Thirby. John is a
councillor for St. Vincent Township and
Velma belongs to the Riverside Wom-
en's Institute. Both are members of the
Ski Town Squares square dance club.
The Lowe farm is situated two miles
west of the town of Meaford on County

Road 12. The sandy, well -drained soil
on his farm, Lowe notes, makes for ideal
plowing conditions.
