THE QUEEN ANNE STYLE
The Queen Anne style, which appeared in England in the 1860s,
came to North America about a century ago. It was used in south-
western Ontario between about 1890 and 1920, depending on regional
differences. By 1910, the relatively elaborate Queen Anne building
style was replaced by the Queen Anne Box, which resembled a box but
still had an A -shaped pediment on top.
The following illustrations show the details of the Queen Anne
building (by Jim Anderson, Stratford Perth Archives).
