About 6,000 hungry people arrived
in the Huron County town of Zurich on
August 22 to help celebrate the 22nd
annual Bean Festival.
Organizers of the event had prepared
better than a ton of Ontario -grown white
beans, baked up in their time -tested
"secret" recipe and dished out in
generous portions throughout the day.
The Canadian Horseshoe Pitching
Championship was also held, as it is
every year, and 100 or more sidewalk
vendors, an evening dance, beer gar-
dens, and antique auto show all contri-
buted to the festivities.
The Ontario Bean Marketing Board
is actively involved with local organ-
izers and contributes up to half the beans

consumed. Board representatives dem-
onstrated cooking, recipes, and com-
modity information at the town hall.
