A cross of Fredrick and Yorkstar, Harus was developed by Dr. Abe Teich, a plant breeder at Agriculture Canada's Harrow Research Station. Yorkstar, which was recently dropped from the Ontario list of recommended varieties, was the most popuiar winter wheat vari- ety in Ontario before Fredrick was li- censed in 1971. Teich says that many breeders have crossed Yorkstar and Fredrick, but now in a single cross the top baking quality of Yorkstar and the strong straw and ex- ceptional disease resistance of Fredrick have been captured.0 NEW POLYGRIP CONNECTS PIPE Philmac Valves and Fittings of Bar- rie, Ontario has introduced Polygrip, a non -corrosive compression fitting made from tough plastics.
