SYSTEM ISSUED
Alfa -Laval of Peterborough, On-
tario has introduced the newest module
of the HerdMaster Management Sys-
tem, the ParlorMaster Automatic Identi-
fication System.
Used to Zink the milking parlor to a
farm computer and computerized feed-
ing system, ParlorMaster uses portal
loops — similar to airport metal detec-
tors) installed at each entrance. A cow's
number is flashed on the stall unit's
display and relayed, along with any pre-
programmed information on the cow, to
the ParlorMaster memory.
The parlor op-
erator can deter-
mine the cow's
identity, whether it
needs special at-
tention, if it re-
quires medication,
or if the milk is to
be dumped. The
ParlorMaster also
records the cow's
production prior to
turning out.
When interfaced with the optional
HerdMaster computer and its software,
the new module displays yield at the
stall unit as a cow is milked. If she fails
to produce up to her previous seven
days' average yield, the operator is
advised.0
RIMS CONVERT
WHEEL SIZE
"Step-up" rims to convert 34 -inch
tractor wheels to 38 or 42 inches, or 38 -
inch wheels to 42 inches, are available
from Unverferth Manufacturing.
The rims attach to step-up spacer
lugs mounted on the tractor's original
hub. Standard rims and lugs fit most
tractors using an 8, 12, or 16 -lug cast
wheel centre. Heavy rims and "deep
drop" models can be used to accommo-
date high torque and 4WD tractors, in-
cluding those with 10 -lug centres.
