PROGRAM FOR RURAL
WOMEN LAUNCHED
The Ontario Women's Directorate
and Opportunity for Advancement, a
voluntary social service agency,
recently launched Project Link, a
service to provide training for people
working with women in neral and
isolated urban areas of Ontario.
Communication and leadership
skills, understanding motivation, work-
ing effectively with groups, and stress
management are some of the programs
which can be tailored to meet the
specific needs of the participants.
The training programs are free of
charge. The cost to the community is
limited to the travel and accom-
modation expenses of the trainer. For

Eugene Whelan, former federal
agriculture minister and now head
of Geneagrex, among other enter-
prises, entertained and instructed
those attending an information
meeting sponsored by the Beef
Producers for Change Inc. in
Stratford last month. Offering en-
couragement to the group, which
wants supply management imple-
mented in the beef business,
Whelan criticized the law of sup-
ply and demand as "medieval"
and commended the efforts of
the EEC on behalf of its farmers.
Close to 300 attended.
