CKNX PIONEER TO
JOIN HALL OF FAME
Wilfred Thomas Cruickshank of
Wingham is one of five candidates, all
deceased, to be named to the Ontario
Agricultural Hall of Fame this year.
Born in 1897 (d. 1971), Cruick-
shank established the CKNX radio
station in 1926. Known as the
"Ontario Farm Station," CKNX began
the first of a trial series of Farm Radio
Forum programs in 1939, paving the
way for the National Farm Fadio
Forum program on CBC.
Cruickshank was nominated by
CKNX Broadcasting Limited.
Others being honoured are James
G. Cockshutt of Brantford, founder of
the Cockshutt Plow Company,
Frederick W. Cohoe of Burgessville, a
proponent of high intensity pasture
management, William Charles Good
of Brantford, a noted farm leader and
breeder of Holstein cattle, and J. Elgin
Armstrong of Brampton, a Holstein
and Standardbred breeder.
The public is welcome to attend
the unveiling ceremony at the museum
June 7. The Hall of Fame Association
is a provincial non-profit organization
created to provide recognition for those
who have made significant contribu-
tions to Ontario's agriculture.0
