Chambers new engineer for pork, poultry
Robert Chambers has replaced
Frank Kains as OMAFRA's engineer
specializing in swine and poultry.
As did Kains before he left the
Ministry, Chambers will work out of
the Fergus office. While Kains
specialized just in swine issues,
Chambers will also deal with poultry.
Chambers will advise farmers about
barns and equipment and will be the
Ministry's lead in issues of minimum
distance separation standards and
manure management.
Chambers had most recently
worked for Agviro Inc. in Guelph.
Previous to that, however, he had been
OMAFRA's resident engineer in
eastern Ontario dealing with many of
the same issues as he will at Fergus.
He also taught at Alfred College of
Agricultural Technology.
Chambers will be keeping a close
eye on developments in animal welfare
and environmental protection
involving the pork and poultry
industries in Sweden and Britain so
that Ontario farmers can be aware of
what is happening there.0
