The Rural Voice, 1999-09, Page 35three eras. Noting the successes of previous plowing matches, Craig said the committee wanted to build on them. "But we didn't march to any drummer. Creativity was alive and well. It takes a lot of people with an open approach to be creative." The efforts of the committee have not gone unnoticed. This year's match is to be judged by the North American Farm Show Council. "We found out last spring that they wanted to come and judge this so we must be doing something that got their attention. It's kind of nice to be thought of as being worthy of being judged." The match is also being viewed by friends from the east. According to Craig, 14 people from China will be attending as representatives of their country. And with the opening just a short time away, Craig is confident that the committee is ready for them. "We had the planning process in place by the end of May. It's been execution and fine-tuning since because we There's confidence committees are ready have to be ready. There's no dress rehearsal." With new ideas to attract attention did Craig feel this IPM would be bigger and better than ever? "We have room for 26,000 cars and 600 buses. Certainly we have to have "x" number of people to pay the bills. But we want to create a program that will make it a fall event people won't want to miss. "We have traffic coming to four different parking Tots at the same time. The goal is to move people continuously with a minimum of difficulty. We have programs created that I believe will make people want to attend regardless of the weather. "We've had good people on the committee and wonderful support from the people of Huron. You never know for sure whether you'll be hitting the right chord, but everything's worked well. I don't want to sound cocky. You always need to be wary, but I feel good about the outcome."0 sji ona Drop by and see us and over 50 of our suppliers at the 1999 International Plowing 'hatch McGavin's N Proud of our I.P.M.
