The blade anchors the unit to
the ground preventing the
tractor from slipping backward
and takes the strain off the
tractor. The cable is easy to
pull out as the winch drum
free wheels easily.
The winch is operated
with a control rope from a

side of the unit.
The 3 -point linkage is
raised so the logs are 1-2
feet off the ground and the
logs are skidded to the

Investigate the crisis
The current crisis in the hog
industry has been created by several
interest groups wanting to produce
profit for themselves.
The government, with the help of
the Ontario Provincial Police, should
begin an investigation with a view to
stopping this economic sabotage.
When very large financial groups use
the power of monopoly to destroy the
national economy, then the Tong -term
results are negative.
Canadian farmers are being
pushed into slavery by the hog and
grain prices and consequently a
poorer population is being created.
Hog farmers must take action to
remedy their situation. Reducing
production from 100 per cent to 80
per cent would raise the price. Every
hog farmer with low debt should
voluntarily stop hog production
temporarily. At present hog prices
these farmers would save vast
amounts of money.
Every hog farmer with high debt
will go bankrupt in the next few
months, thereby reducing production
in a natural, but a very painful way.
Hog farmers, who stay in the
business, will work for a long time
with little or no return for their
investment and labour until the hog
prices return to normal. Farmers must
help shorten the length of time of this
critical situation.
In the best interests of the hog
farmers, the bankers, the packers and
the economy of the country, the
farmers should buy 51 per cent
ownership of the packing industry.
This would give them the necessary
price control from the producer to the
consumer. This idea should be
acceptable to bankers, who already
have loans to both farmers and
packers. I believe that bankers would
view this to be less risky than a loan
solely to the packers, as farmland is
the most secure place for money. The
transfer of bank loans from the
