Private landowners are an integral part of
Many snowmobile trails operated by local Ontario
Federation of Snowmobile Clubs (OFSC) are on private
land. Permission for OFSC Permit holders to cross this
private land on their snowmobiles has been given to your
local club through the generosity and good will of
landowners. This land use permission is a privilege, not a
right.
As a privilege, land use permission has to be constantly
earned and protected by snowmobile clubs and by each
individual OFSC Permit holder through their responsible
actions on the trail. The alternative is that land use
permission could be cancelled by a landowner, thereby
permanently closing an important section of snowmobile
trail and causing major disruption to the existing trail
connections. Such a trail closure also causes undue
hardship to club volunteers and results in the Toss of
