It's a &jmple wish, and I knok+ from experience how elusive PEACE is to find. It isn't in the endless activities and preparation that surround this season. Those are exhausting no matter how successful the execution. Open the Bible to Matthew's rendition of the Holy Birth. Read it aloud and feel the PEACE in the words. There is no emergency room drama in this beautiful passage. There is no high tech equipment supplied by a medical team on adrenaline overdrive. There is PEACE, followed by JOY in the arrival of the Christ Child, wrapped in HOPE for us all. PEACE is one of the most divine gifts we can possess, but can't be given nor bought. It has to be within us. It is a feeling that all is well with your soul no matter how often your faith has been tested in the past. PEACE gives a solid base to face the challenges of the future. PEACE is holding a child's hand as they gaze with awe towards the star studded heavens and ask which is the "special" star. PEACE is in the tears that unashamedly course down your cheeks as the poignant strains of "Silent Night" drift through the stillness. We rarely remember what material things we received at this time of the year, but the memories of sharing love and laughter with our families and friends linger forever. We all know of people who have an aura of PEACE around them. Choose to spend time with them because PEACE is like a virus, and can be catching. There is nothing frantic, loud or aggressive about PEACE. It's like a soothing ointment to take the irritation out of daily life. If PEACE were an infectious virus, and spread uncontrollably, there would be a lot more JOY, and the promise of HOPE could be fulfilled as prophesied. Think of PEACE as God's special gift to you and accept it with JOY. After the last ornament has been packed away, the last wreath carefully boxed and the plug pulled on the lights, PEACE will linger and shine brightly in your soul. It is my wish for you.0 Gisele Ireland, from Bruce County, is an author of several humorous books on farm life. WE'RE MAKING A LIST... There's no better time of the year to say thanks and wish you all a joyous season. From the staff at BRUCE TRACTOR uuuu■ OE & LAWN CARE LTD. Sart 1, R.R. 4, WALKERTON 519-881-2231 1-800-265-3883
