County Farmers by the GCFA.
Our study for this past year for
the Ladies Group at our church has
been focused on food in a Biblical
sense but it has given way to a lot
of discussion amongst the_group
members.
We require food as a basic need
to be able to survive physically but
we need it to survive emotionally
and socially as well. What event
have you attended lately that there
was no food available? Not likely
any that you can remember. Even
meetings that I attend are friendlier
if there are muffins or cheese and
crackers. If there is food, then
conversations and discussions seem
easier and people are more relaxed.

52 THE RURAL VOICE
Let's give thanks for food
As babies we are quieted by being
nursed and what mother has not
given her children cold cereal in
church to keep them quiet during
the sermon. Food pacifies and
nurtures. We take food to
community or family members in
time of distress, sorrow and
happiness. It comforts the giver, it
acknowledges without words and
the receiver is thankful for the
thoughtfulness. As we get older we
don't need the same quantity hut
the quality is probably more
important.
In order to have food on the
table, we need people to grow,
process and sell it and those of us to
prepare and serve it. Hats off to the
farmers. May the continue to be the
tillers of the soil, the reapers of the
harvest and good stewards of the
land all under the love and guidance
of their God to provide a security
blanket for us al1.0
