"The demand for field
demonstrations has been very
strong," said Clare Elston,
demonstration co-ordinator. "We
wanted to get some different kinds of
equipment out in action on the field.
The new schedule is the best way to
do that." (Sec last page of article).
In other demonstrations, the Farm
Safety Association will show you
some of the dangers on the farm.
Concerned about safety on your
farm? The association thinks you
should be.
Watch how quickly a tractor can
roll over backwards when hitched too
high and the value of roll over
protection to save the operator.
These are just a couple of areas of
concern the Farm Safety Association
Exhibit will highlight at the Outdoor
Farm Show this year.
Thankfully it will be a straw
dummy and not a person that gets
caught in a power takeoff shaft when
association staff demonstrate how
fast a person's clothing can become
entangled in the mechanism. Hazards
with grain augers will also be
demonstrated.
Inside the FSA tent, the
association will highlight two topics
of concern in the farming community
— farm equipment on the road, and
child safety on the farm.
Aside from biotechnology, new
crops and field demonstrations,
Canada's Outdoor Farm Show is one
of the biggest farm equipment shows
in the country. That's why Case IH
decided to unveil its newest tractor
this year at the show.
Show -goers will be the first
people on the continent to see Case
IH's new tractor. It will be displayed
on September 8 at the company's
exhibit..
Case IH will only say that the new
tractor is the largest addition to the
X -series and that it "pushes the
boundaries of tractor design".
In the livestock arca of the
Outdoor Farm Show, three Mirage -
sired milking cows and
representatives of some of the colour
breeds will be on display. Mirage is a
bull with good genetic evaluation, his
semen is marketed internationally.
Mirage produces offspring that arc
