Saturday events include a ball
tournament, square dance
competition, old-fashioned livestock
judging, nostalgia displays from past
clubs, and a silent auction. That
evening there will be a barbecue,
evening program and dance.
Sunday will start with a pancake
breakfast followed by a church
service and social time for members
and former members to renew old
friendships.
The first local Junior Farmers club
in Grey County was founded in
Meaford in 1918 followed by a
Ravenna club in 1919. Since then
numerous locations such as
Hopeville, Owen Sound, Chatsworth,
Dundalk, Thornbury, Allen Park,
Ayton, Balaclava, Desboro, Durham,
and Rocklyn have had Junior
Farmers clubs throughout the years.
In 1948 the County Association
was organized and was recognized by
the provincial association. Currently
there are about 80 members in the
county in three active clubs: North
Grey, South East and Rocklyn.0
