The Rural Voice, 1998-03, Page 25ROPS SAVES LIVES
Tractor rollovers are the
largest single cause of
agricultural machinery -related
deaths. Farm tractors are
associated with 47.5% of farm
related fatalities. Tractor
rollovers and runovers are the
leading causes of death. In
most cases there was no
ROPS on the tractor.
ROPS are available as
protective steel frames or
quiet, dust proof enclosures.
Many manufacturers now
offer retrofit ROPS for most of
their older models. At time of
purchase, make sure ROPS
meets performance criteria
established by the Canadian
Standards Association.
A homemade ROPS Is not
recommended.
