Tee brothers made a
philosophical decision to
adapt the most modern
technology available for their
new barn, knowing that even what's
leading edge today will be out of date
soon enough. They had already been
making use of natural ventilation in
the barn across the road which had
been the diary barn. Now they have
turkey -curtain on four sides of the
new barn plus six roof -top chimneys.
The chimney vents were wide open
all winter long and on a cold
February day, Bruce says, they were
emitting clouds of condensation like
six stoves. Condensation was no
problem in the barn.
The natural ventilation has made a
more pleasant atmosphere for cows
and barn workers as well. The light
coming through the turkey curtained
walls and the high, white cathedral
ceiling make the inside of the barn
nice and bright. Bruce recalls coming
into the barn one day before it was
finished last fall when all the curtains
were lowered and seeing the sunlit
maple bush through the openings,
