This committee is comprised of 15 members with representatives from the Federation of Agriculture, commodity farm organiza- tions, agri-business lending institutions, and other rural associations. The goal of this committee is to make agricultural training readily available and affordable. The following courses are being offered in Bruce County during the upcoming fall/winter months: • Introduction to Windows '95 - Walkerton • Introduction to Windows '95 - Mar • Quicken for Farm Financial Records Using Windows '95 • Intermediate Quicken Using Windows'95 • Windows 3.1 Introduction • Purchasing A Computer - Walkerton • Purchasing A Computer - Mar • Hands -on -Internet, Wightman Communications - Clifford • Hands-on-Intemet, Bruce Municipal Telephone Systems - Tiverton • Summarizing and Reporting Financial information (Part 2) • Managing Financial Statements (Part 3) • Effective Meetings • Capital Budgeting • Sheep Production Management Club • Ecological Farming • Time Management • Intro to Commodity Marketing For Livestock • A Beef Feeder School A majority of these courses are offered by the Ontario Agricultural Training Institute (OATI). OATI was initially developed by the OFA and since has developed its own independ- ence and identity, with funding from the federal government under the Canadian Farm Business Management Program. Applications are due October 1 at the OMAFRA office. 4-H members who have been active in 4-H for at least two years, and have taken a project this year are eligible. The scholarship is awarded for those furthering their education in agriculture or a complementary field at a Canadian institution. Responsibility and leadership in 4-H and community activities is assessed. 4-H members can receive this scholarship only once. Obtain application forms from the OMAFRA office or Stan Eby (396-8526).0 NOMINATION FOR THE BCFA AWARD OF MERIT "For Outstanding Contribution to Agriculture" Every year the Bruce County Federation of Agriculture presents an award to a person in Bruce County who has made a significant contribution to the agriculture industry. It you have someone you would like to nominate, please complete this form and return to our office in Hanover. Nominations should be received at our office by October 28. The Award will be presented at our Annual Meeting on Friday, November 8, 1996.
