The city, laid out with the assistance of a computer designer, expects to host 700 exhibitors. Elsewhere on the 1,000 -acre site will be crop show -cases, the historical and antique shows, exhibits of new technology, tours, an interactive educational program, a lifestyles program with food and craft shows, a fully -staffed day-care centre and a 1,000 site trailer park. The event is forecast to pump $5 million into the local economy. But the costs of staging such a mammoth event in the 1990s are also huge. Budget for the 1995 IPM is $1 million but that doesn't include the hundreds of thousands of volunteer hours. In advance planning, 500 volunteers organized into 35 committee have been preparing for the show. During the event a total of 1,000 volunteers will be involved. Executive Chairman for the Waterloo committee is Reg Cressman, former UCO vice- president, now executive director of the Kitchener Chamber of Commerce. There's plenty of family connection involved in the committee. Reg's wife, Katherine, is chairperson of the banquet committee. She is daughter of R.G. Brown, 11 -time Ontario champion horse plowman, sister of Bob Brown, once Canadian national champion, and aunt of Carson Brown, twice the junior national champion. Bob Brown is chairperson of the tractor park committee. The Cressmans' daughter Sarah is 1995 North Dumfries Queen of the Furrow. Their son Matthew is a member of the teams and horses committee while their daughter Amy is secretary of the corporate participation committee. The two vice -chairpersons are Art Gibney, a recently -retired executive of Canada's largest food-processing company, Maple Leaf Foods, and John Edworthy who operates a dairy and cash crop farm, in addition to a seed corn dealership, near Ayr. Treasurer is Doug Best from Manulife Financial of Waterloo while Susanne Gillow is the secretary. Norm Perriman, a director at the Ontario Plowmen's Association, rounds out the
