Management
challenge. As in the U.S., Canadian
farmers plan to use more
environmental consultants.
• Assets: With the farm economy
depressed for so long, farmers were
not replacing pricey items that were
somewhat discretionary, such as
machinery. Now, they have to
because the old machines are wearing
out. And they're concerned about
where they'll get the money to
replace them.0
Company offers
temporary services
A new company in Huron County
is providing a new service for
businesses, including farms: a
temporary employment agency.
Martine MacDonald of Zurich has
created her own job with the opening
of Temp -Ted temporary employment
agency.
While a common perception of
typical "temp" jobs is in an office,
MacDonald says the field is actually
much broader — a waitress, factory
worker or farm hand is just as likely
to be involved in temporary
employment. "We'll provide
employees for all the service sector,
both clerical and non -clerical, as well
as light and heavy industry, food
services, medical and health workers
and farm labour."0
