than having a separate shower stall,
which there was really no room to
accommodate, we decided on hooking
it up with the tub. The shower curtain
rod extends around the circumference
to protect the wall. A bulk head was
created to attach the rod to.
The only disadvantage to this we
have found is that it takes three show-
er curtains to fill the space, which is a
bit costly.
With small children, however, we
did have some concerns that the room
might be a little cool for them when
bathing so a heat light was installed in
the ceiling near the tub.
As is the case with many older
homes, there was no linen closet, so
we constructed a small, but adequate

one, at the entrance. The top shelf is
open to the high ceiling so there is
plenty of room to store thick piles of
bedding.
The outside walls of the room were
in good condition so we were able to
get away with papering them, but for
the inside walls and ceiling we
thought cedar panelling might add a
nice touch to the decor. Tongue -in -
groove design, the cedar required a
light stain to protect it. In the years
since, with a light touch up of lemon
oil every now and then we have
found it to be quite durable.
For flooring we selected one of the
popular low -maintenance, high dura-
bility linoleums.
Considering the wear and tear a
family of six can place on a home's
only bathroom, ours seems to have
stood the test fairly well. In the years
since, we have re -papered once (the
inexpensive first choice got steamed
off the walls) and changed a few dec-
orative touches.0
