limiting factor it is noted that without
water, nothing can live. Signs of
water scarcity are now pervasive.
The report says that already 26
countries have insufficient renewable
water supplies within their own
territories to meet the needs of a
moderately developed society at
current population size — yet
population is growing fastest in some
of the most water -scarce countries,
including Africa and the Middle East.
This publication is not exactly bed
time reading, but if you want a
wakcup call on the state of the world,
it gives it to you loud and clear.
Both time and resources are
running out. It is time for us all to
review our life styles and to help out
20 per cent of the global family at the
bottom of the economic ladder who
share a minute 1.4 per cent of the
global income. (The richest 20 per
cent now account for 82.7 per cent.)0
