The first furrow was symbolically plowed by Carman Fullerton, warden of Bruce County, using a horse-drawn plow. Murray Cardiff, MP for Huron -Bruce used a modern tractor to tum another symbolic furrow. There was entertainment in another tent on the site and all the invited guests were treated to a luncheon of barbecued Bruce beef. Perhaps Jim Reed summed it up best when he closed out the formal part of the program by saying of the hundreds of volunteers: "It's clear to me that by September 21 they (will have created the greatest IPM".0 SEPTEMBER 1993 37
