around it and not buy it."
Already in possession of many
family antiques and heirlooms, his
obsession to possess started with a
collection of old dairy equipment.
Once the bedroom of the farmhouse
became overrun the collection was
transferred into a new drive shed.
Inside this large space visitors can see
300 pound milk cans, and everything
in between, down to old bottle caps.
A display of over 100 implement
seats adorns the wall, while cutters
and several examples of early farm
machinery take up space in a second
room. In addition there are farm
tools, license plates dating back to
1918 and the tires from a Model T
Ford.
His pleasure in creating a bygone
world is underlined by a desire to
complete every collection and display
it properly. "I have stuff on display so
it looks like it's where it should be,"
he explained.
Also on the property is a harness
shop, the inventory of which is self-
explanatory. Some of the items here
are prized momentoes of Batty's
childhood. A harness mount his
father bought from a peddler still has
every buckle, Batty says proudly.
