The Rural Voice, 1993-06, Page 62People Seaforth dealer VP of ORFEDA Marlen Vincent of Vincent Farm Equipment Ltd. in Seaforth was elected first vice-president of the Ontario Retail Farm Equipment Dealers' Association (ORFEDA) for 1993 at the 47th annual meeting of the association. ORFEDA is a non-profit voluntary provincial association founded in 1945. It's recognized as the voice of Ontario's farm equipment dealers, making presentations to the provincial government, supplying trade publications, regular dealer bulletins, conducting training seminars, insurance counselling and legal representations to its members. Through its computer division ORFEDA is selling, installing and servicing dealer in-house computer systems. It also operates an "Outdoor Power Equipment division" for power equipment dealer services. Vincent had been second vice-president of the organization in 1992.0 Marlen Vincent: vice-president of dealers' association. Grey beef producer winners announced Annual awards to recognize Beef Herd Improvement Records were recently handed out by the Grey County Beef Improvement Club. Brian and Pearl Bumstead, R.R.2, Holland Centre won the "most improved average daily gain" for herds of 25 cows or less. John Milligan, R.R.1, Hanover won in the 26-50 cow herd size. Robert McKessock, R.R.5, Chatsworth, won for herds of more than 50 cows. In the "highest average daily gain" category, Elsie and Keith Jackson, R.R.1, Durham won for herds of 25 cows or less. James McKinlay, R.R.2, Ravenna won for herds of 26-50 cows. Robert McKessock had the highest average daily gain for herds of 50 cows and more. Grey County Beef Improvement Club had the largest number of weaning weights recorded and the largest number of active producers participating in weighing programs across the province during 1992. The Provincial Beef Herd Improvement Program is administered by the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and Food.0 Reinink represents pullet producers on egg board Hank Reinink of Londesboro has been re-elected by the Ontario Egg Marketing Board's Pullet Committeemen as one of their two representatives to the Board of Directors. Reinink has been a committeeman for the past three years. He'll represent pullet producers in the western half of the province. With his wife Shirley he runs a broiler operation in addition to a pullet operation on their farm near Londesboro in Huron County. They also raise cash crops on their 150 -acre farm and Hank runs a small engine sales and service business. For the past two years he has been chairman of the Ontario Pullet Growers Association. Closer to home home he is treasurer of the Londesboro Lions Club.0 Wellington County volunteers honoured Ten Wellington County farm leaders were honoured for volunteer activities recently. Among those honoured were: Don Rowan was honoured for his long-term service to the the Soil and Crop Association, including a period as president. Fred Provis, a retired farmer, was nominated by the East Wellington Advisory Group (EWAG) which felt recognition of his efforts was long overdue. He is president of the Erin Horticultural Society and an active volunteer in EWAG. Bob Moffat, currently a leader of the 4-H Sodbusters Club, has been a director of the Drayton District Co- op, Wellington Milk Committee and the Plowmen's Association. Gary Jefferson, honoured by the Fergus Agricultural Society, is host of the 1993 Wellington County Plowing Match. He's active in hockey, Rotary, Plowmen's Association and the Holstein Club. Glenna Smith, nominated by the Arkell Women's Institute, is known in Arkell, Puslinch township for her organizational ability, enthusiasm, extreme competence and dependability in all activities. John Sullivan's community contributions were recognized by the Alma Optimist Club, Alma Women's Institute, St. Mary's Church in Elora and the Parker Community Club. Marion Allan is a member of Speedside WI and is currently district director and public relations officer. Craig and June Switzer have been very active in 4-H and Junior Farmers. June is co -chairperson of the "Farm Comes to Town" and is now chairing the Wellington County Agricultural Committee. Craig is past president of the Erin Agricultural Society. Evelyn Winer is involved in Bade- noch WI, sports and church activities and is described as multi -talented. Anne Wilkinson helped organize and serve at breakfasts for six weeks with the profits to help physically challenged people.0
