Several year-long residue studies
were conducted on recycled pesticide
containers made into curbstops,
fenceposts and asphalt. Tests
including rubbing curbstops to
determine if residues could be
dislodged and running rainwater and
well water over recycled fenceposts
to simulate natural weather
conditions.
"The development of end use
products from recycling completes
the life -cycle for these containers and
that is very exciting," stated Jeff
Wilson, AGCare Chairman. "This is
why triple rinsing of containers into
the spray tank while mixing is of
importance. It will help end use
recycling, save farmers money and be
good for the environment." 0
NISA deadline extended
The deadline for the 1991 NISA
applications has been extended to
September 30. The National NISA
Committee felt it was important to
allow producers the extra time in
order to fully understand the benefits
of the program and how to apply.
With the various forms to be
completed, understanding what is
required and where it goes can be a
frustrating experience.
One area that has been of concern
to livestock producers, is the
deduction of prepared feeds and
protein supplements. A producer
must record the value of purchased
prepared feeds and protein
supplements on Line 195 of
Schedule "A". If an itemized
document (invoice breakdown) is not
available, the full purchase value of
the feed and/or supplement should be
recorded. An estimation will not be
acceptable in 1991. The purchase of
mineral, salt and premix which is
predominantly mineral and vitamin as
opposed to a protein supplement is to
be recorded as an expense on Line
722 in Section G of Schedule "A".
Producers who purchase horticultural
by-products such as cull product and
cannery wastes should record such
purchases in the horticultural
purchases section of Schedule "A".
When recorded this way, this will
