HCFA EXPRESSES CONCERN OVER CHANGES AT CKNX
Huron County Federation of
Agriculture has expressed its deep
disappointment in the decision to do
away with CKNX TV agricultural
programming, to both Martha
Blackburn, Chair of the Board of
Directors of CFPL Broadcasting,
owner of the two stations, and to
Allan Darling, of the CRTC
(Canadian Radio Television -
telecommunications Commission)
which would have to approve the
proposed sale of CKNX TV to Baton
Broadcasting.
If CKNX programming is stopped,
the long tradition of agriculture
reporting of this station, and its people
Murray Gaunt, Kevin Stewart, Gary
Ballagh and Jim Sutherland will be
lost to this agriculture community.
THE HURON COMMITTEE FOR ORGANIZING THE
FEBRUARY 21, 1992 OTTAWA RALLY
On June 10, the Committee reassessed the need for retaining the balance of
the funds ($3808.94) left over after the Ottawa Rally. There appears to be no
imminent need to retain these funds for use within the County. Therefore, the
balance of these funds is going to be transferred to SM5 (the five supply boards)
to be used in the national effort to promote and retain our proven and effective
marketing system.
For anyone that went on one of the buses from Clinton and that does not wish
thcir share of the balance to be forwarded to aid in the national campaign, they
may come in to the County Federation office and pick it up on a specified day.
The Huron County Federation of Agriculture Office, in Vanastra, will be open on
MONDAY JULY 6 BETWEEN THE HOURS OF 9:00 — 12:00 AND 1:00 —
4:00 P.M. specifically for this reason. It is the only day that the refund of $12
will be made, and the refund will be made only to those applying in person.
At 4:00 p.m. on July 6, a cheque for the balance of the funds left after the
refunds have been madc will be forwarded to SM5.0

56 THE RURAL VOICE
CKNX TV was the only station that
covered most if not all the different
agriculture groups' annual meetings in
Ontario. The "Family Farmer"
program was shown on Cable TV and
was seen by many other viewers
across Ontario. The daily reporting
of agriculture happenings is a key
element of the news in this wide area
around CKNX TV. We need to keep
this agriculturally -oriented station
programming for Huron, Bruce and
Grey counties!0
NOTICE
As stated in the
Constitution of the Huron
County Federation of
Agriculture, 4 months prior to
