The Rural Voice, 1992-07, Page 32Fun and Games as 3 counties
unite for 4-H Fun Fest
They came from all over three counties on June 6 to stage a
riotous event at Walkerton District Secondary School. Unlike the
infamous "Goof-off" day riot in Toronto, however, this was an event
encouraged by adults.
The 10- to 13 -year-old youngsters bumed off enough energy
to power a jumbo jet during the day as they joined in teams to take
part in relays of water -filled balloons, water -carrying relays (top left),
racing on newspaper -covered feet (lower left) and spirited fights
with bunched up newspaper (lower right). It was all part of 4-H Fun
Fest organized by the 4-H leaders of Bruce, Grey and Huron to
foster friendships between 4-H members across the region. The
leaders even helped show how it should be done ... sort of, as at
top right where a leader tries to hoist a water balloon with her feet.
More than 200 youngsters and 40 volunteers took part.()
