FEEDBACK
"HAY FORK"
A CLASSIC
As a faithful reader of your maga-
zine for many years, I would like to
thank you for the quality product, and
particularly for the humour that people
like Gisele Ireland have been able to
relate. If we can't laugh with, at, and
about ourselves and this industry of
agriculture, there would be no point at
all to carrying on.
I would particularly applaud R. A.
Fowler for his piece on the "Hay
Fork." It is a classic, and should win a
Pulitzer. I could not read it myself, as
I laughed so hard, I kept losing focus.
My son came to my rescue and read
me this as a bedtime story.
I am sure everyone has or will be a
participant on one and probably both
sides of a parent/child co-operative
project run amuck as described in
Fowler's piece, and probably won't
laugh at the experience until, as
Fowler says, "when time and eroded
memory terminals had dulled."
I look forward to more of Fowler's
memories, but believe a caution
should precede his works, advising
readers to take prudent advance meas-
ures to minimize the damage and em-
barrassment that might result from the
loss of control over bodily functions,
during uncontrollable mirth.0
