HIGHLIGHTS FROM HCFA BOARD OF DIRECTORS' MEETING, MONDAY, AUGUST 12, 1991 At the board of directors' meeting on Monday, August 12, it was decided to have the membership canvass in Huron on August 27. 28 and 29. Huron is in need of volunteers to work at IPM in OFA tent at Petrolia for Thursday, September 19. Several have been recruited, but we still need a few more. If interested, call 482-9642. The Seaforth Agricultural Society is having another "tractor draw" this fall. A motion was made by Jeanne Kirkby, seconded by Ken Scott, to donate an OFA membership to the "event," as this would give HCFA a lot of publicity coverage. The Huron County waste manage- ment site is to be announced on October 3, 1991. Bob Down showed a video on "The Credibility of Crunch Science" ... facts behind the food scare ... Thanks Bob. Bill Jongejan, chairman of the On- tario Crop Insurance Commission, was present to answer questions on crop insurance and talked a bit about GRIP and NISA. A letter was received from Huron County Junior Farmers inviting HCFA members to their annual Agri -Food Week banquet in October. As well, forms are available from the county office to nominate individuals or groups for the Rural Leadership Awards.0 NOMINATION FOR THE HCFA AGRICULTURE AWARD Every year, the Huron County Federation of Agriculture presents an award to a person who has made a valuable contribution to agriculture. Hall, Holmesville Monday, September 9 8:00 p.m. Terry Daynard, Ontario Corn Pro- ducers, and other experts will be present to answer questions, and to give instruction on filling out and understanding the NISA forms.
