CONGRATULATIONS
MILK PRODUCERS
Ontario's milk producers are doing a
great job of producing quality milk,
according to Dr. Neil Anderson,
OMAF's Cattle Health Consultant.
More than 98 per cent of producers
ship milk that is above the standard set
for somatic cell count. In addition, only
3 in 10,000 (99.9997 per cent) were
penalized for antibiotic inhibitors in
1990.
That is a quality control record of
which any industry can be proud, either
in food production or commercial
manufacturing.
It's facts like these that give consum-
ers confidence in Ontario's food system.

(OFA), was elected second vice presi-
dent of the Canadian Federation of
Agriculture (CFA) in Ottawa recently.

put forward the issues of the farmers of
Canada before the federal government
and the people of Canada. Many provin-
cial and national farm leaders have par-
ticipated in the federal government's
policy review over the last year. Where
consensus has been generated it is now
our responsibility as national farm lead-
ers to turn consensus into federal gov-
ernment policy," he said.
Wilkinson, who has been involved
in farm politics since 1979, has never
been afraid to speak out on behalf of the
needs of farmers from all sectors of the
industry.
"The time clock is ticking down on
many farms in Canada," Wilkinson
said. "Action must be speedy and deci-
sive if we're going to keep our farmers
in business. It is the role of farm leaders
to turn pessimism and uncertainty into
opportunity as the national and provin-
cial farm organizations work aggres-
