The Rural Voice, 1991-03, Page 28Picking Stones
Spring is my favorite season of the
year. Except when picking stones
comes around. But what I don't
understand is, every year we pick
stones in the same field over and over
again. Why can't we do it just one
year and be done with it? First we
have to bend down and start picking
stones. It's easy at first but then it
gets hard because you get tired and
sick of it. Sometimes I get out of
picking stones and I get to drive the
tractor. After we're done we usually
get a treat, Popsicles. That is my
favorite part.

Farm Animals
Cows in the barn
At my farm
Cats meow
For some milk
My rabbits fur
Feels like silk
Pigs are messy
Especially ours
Calves are Sweet
When they're young
When they're old
We do what we're told
And clean them out.

Farming
The farmers are up bright and early in
the morn,
to plow the fields and harvest the corn
The ladies are straightening up around
their houses,
and making cakes and pies for their
loving spouses.
The children are also wide awake
From the sweet scent of Moma's
delicious carrot cake.
The sun shines bright through the big
bay window,
and gleams on the cat while he rests
below.
The wind blows swiftly, through the
tree tops,
and across the field a bunny hops.
The days grow longer, the nights
become short,
for young and for old, there's plenty
of work.
