other countries, the value of food is
lowered in those countries, which has
a direct and detrimental effect on their
economies.
The issue is not efficiency of pro-
duction. We too often get sidetracked
into that discussion. Of course, we
have to operate efficiently. The point
is that basic raw grain has to be priced
at parity with the rest of the economy.
We have gotten too hung up with
consumerism in this country. The
price a consumer has to pay for a
product is only half the equation.
Where does the consumer get the
money to buy the product?
A prosperous economy depends on
raw materials being priced right (not
cheap). If farmers, foresters, fisher-
men, miners etc. get proper prices,
then they will spend the money that
generates prosperity through the
whole economy.
Who creates new wealth? Think
