For the past six years, Wiley served as director of Public and Consumer Affairs for the Canadian Meat Council, the national trade association of feder- ally -inspected red meat processors. Prior to that, she was Ontario Home Economist for the Beef Information Centre, the promotion arm of the Cana- dian Cattlemen's Association. A 1982 graduate of the University of Guelph's College of Family and Con- sumer Studies, Mary Wiley was raised on a Bruce County beef and cash crop farm. Currently, Mary, her husband and two children, live near the Wiley grape growing operation in the Niagara Penin- sula. AGCare (Agricultural Groups Con- cerned About Resources and the Envi- ronment), through its affiliated mem- bership, represents approximately 45,000 horticultural and field crop pro- ducers in Ontario. AGCare hopes to help reverse the trend of agricultural illiteracy in urban communities by pro- viding the media and the public with accurate information on matters relating to crop production and pesticide use.0
