reuse. Farmers will be required to pay
a retumable deposit. The shuttle con-
tainer will work in conjunction with
a portable pump and meter to transfer
the chemical from the shuttle to the
sprayer. Cyanamid has developed a
new reusable chemical container for
Counter, a container that is being
tested in the U.S. and is not yet
available in Canada.
The transportation of pesticides,
another major concern, is regulated
federally under the Transportation of
Dangerous Goods Act administered by
Transport Canada, but the regulations
for the transportation of pesticides
under Sections 105, 106, 107, and 108
of the Ontario Pesticides Act are most
pertinent to farmers.
For example: "No persons shall
transport or cause or permit the trans-
portation of any Schedule 1, 2, 3, or 5
pesticide together with commodities
that are a) food or drink intended for
human or animal consumption, b)
household furnishings, or c) toiletries,
clothes, bedding or similar commodi-
ties, by a vehicle operated on the high-
way or road unless the pesticide being
transported is separated from such
commodities in a manner sufficient
to prevent their contamination by the
pesticide."
