I personally feel that a blend of both will be necessary in our future farming practices. As far as one method of growing food being better in that it produces food that is more digestible or more or less bloating than another (Feedback, December Rural Voice), I would have to think it is probably a case of imagi- nation. No one that I have talked to has ever heard of such a thing. The fact is that we could never supply our nation's food requirements with strictly organic farming. And the fact is that people are living longer now than ever before. As many can- cer researchers are saying: Big Fears, Little Risk.O Leonard Lovell Kippen, Ontario The Four Rs It stems to me that our country is involved in a vicious circle: • The federal government is endorsing high interest rates to keep inflation down. • High interest rates arc increasing the federal budget deficit. • The government is imposing heavy tax increases to bring the deficit down. • Large tax increases are boosting the inflation rate. Is there any way out of this vicious cycle? There is only one way, in my opinion: let's get off that throw -away, built-in obsolescence, disposable - objects mentality and practise the four Rs: Reduce, Re -use, Recycle, and Recover. It would not only save us from having our wallets robbed blind, but would go a long way towards saving this country's environment.° Ziggy Kleinau Lion's /lead, Ontario
