News in Agriculture Bruce IPM committee unveils Volunteers organizing the 2008 International Plowing Match unveiled their new logo April 8 at the Chesley Kinsmen's Midwestern Ontario Agri -Fair. The logo unveiling and introduction of souvenirs launches a 30 -month campaign seeking volunteers, sponsorship and exhibitors to assist with the IPM event near Teeswater. The 2008 International Plowing Match logo includes an image of the county in red, a star representing the location of Teeswater on the map of Bruce County with furrows reaching out from the star along the bottom of the design. Above the furrows, the wording "Bruce County" in a sand colour stretches across the design with a Hereford Steer similar to Big Bruce standing above and a sheaf of grain sweeps over the steer in the shape of the sun acknowledging the popularity of Bruce County's glorious sunsets. The new logo, designed by Karen Stanley of Ripley who owns and operates KS Designs. will be seen across the province promoting the event and will help to promote the parent organization, the Ontario Plowmen's Association. Stanley has been working with Bruce IPM volunteers in creating the logo. IPM Marketing Chairperson Cheryl Leifso says "A call for designs was issued in the early fall looking for ideas. Karen submitted two excellent designs that were amalgamated into the current logo. The new logo will help us promote both the IPM and the County of Bruce." The theme "Come Home to the Country" will also be promoted to invite IPM visitors to reconnect with their rural roots. The site will feature a tented city of agriculturally -related exhibits, an antique area. education program, field demonstrations and special events, an RV Park and a wide variety of entertainment. Tens of thousands of people are expected to attend the five day event and support Bruce County businesses. Volunteers are needed for an assortment of committees.
