The Rural Voice, 2006-05, Page 15dignity, due to the depressed
farmland market and depressed pure-
bred livestock market. Many have to
continue to farm and lose money,
hoping that by doing the same thing
they did last year, they will get a
different result.
It has gotten past the point of
anger at any particular party or
ministry — but one thing is for sure:
the remaining farmers are not going
John Beardsley
to go quietly. They will continue the
fight at food terminals and wherever
else they have to, to keep this issue
front and centre for the politicians
who have been seduced into thinking
that it is caused by forces beyond
their control.
Shameless buck -passing and spin
from politicians is not going to be
tolerated. It is being remembered and
will spill into the 905 area. At the
core of their being Ontarians want
good nutritious food produced locally
by their neighbours. The public trusts
farmers more than politicians. Those
of us with the abilities to get this
message across have the obligation to
do whatever we can to see Ontario
farmers treated with the same respect
that their farming neighbours in
Quebec. Alberta and the United
States receive.0
