County Federation of Agriculture NEWSLETTER
Keep up the pressure
Dear Ontario Farmers:
The recent funding announcement
from the provincial government was
the first step in an ongoing lobby
process that has the ultimate goal of
providing Ontario farmers with
needed support. The announcement
allocated dollars to several sectors.
made reference to subsequent year
funding but did not speak to all of the
needs of Ontario farmers.
Minister Dombrowsky, at the
request of farm organizations, has
stepped forward and acknowledged,
once again, the need to have long-
term programs in place to address the
farm income crisis. Agriculture
Minister Chuck Strahl has also been
advised by Ontario farm
organizations that this is necessary.
We need to ensure both levels of
government know what Ontario
farmers require to maintain their
industry in a very short period of
time.
As next steps, I am encouraging
all OFA members to contact MP and
MPP offices within the next several
weeks to deliver these messages. We
must encourage their action on our
behalf — and the best possible way to
do that is through personal contact —
by phone, fax, letter and e-mail.
