Election 2006 - where are the agriculture issues?
Every Farmer must make it a
priority to raise Agricultural issues
before local candidates during the
election period. Do not underestimate
the power you have as individual
members to make a difference and
force our political leaders to listen.
To assist you through the
campaign, the Ontario Federation of
Agriculture has established a special
election page which will provide you
with a letter template, 10 questions to
ask at all candidates meetings, a
meeting/telephone call guide, and an
issues to discuss with candidates
document. You can find these at
www.ofa.on.ca
OFA and the United Voice are
demanding a commitment from all
Ontario candidates to address the
untenable farm income situation
Ontario farmers and their families are
experiencing. We are asking them to
work to ensure the delivery of:
• Immediate funding after the election
as initial payment to farmers and
sufficient funding for the subsequent
two years, until the next Agricultural
Policy Framework can be designed
and implemented: to provide a

still standing when markets recover,
but that we are continuing to suffer
an income crisis due to international
subsidies. border closures, corporate
concentration, rising costs,
commodity dumping and bad
