Reesor's home is located just south
of Atwood, with picturesque gardens
winding .around his beautifully
maintained property.
Annuals, still in bloom in mid-
October, spell out his name at the
front of his property and extend back
through his gardens. His quaint,
white home with green shutters is
privately concealed behind well
groomed trees and bushes.
Reesor along with the other
winners were invited to an awards
banquet in August and presented
with gifts.
The awards banquet also featured
music by Mary Pat (Buchanan)
Smith of Goderich, accompanied by
her band.
Jeremy Stoskopf of R.R.2, Mitchell
is the first place winner for the most
attractive century farm category. His
sister Rachel talked about how much
work he put into the farm.
"He repainted the barns, planted
trees and fixed up the yard and
gardens," she said. "Everything had
to be perfect."
The home was built in 1859 and
Stoskopf is the sixth
generation in his family to live
in the house.
"He wanted to maintain a lot of the
older buildings and [memorabilia],"
Rachel said. "A lot of people have a
century old farm and make
everything new but Jeremy wanted to
(preserve) it the way it was."
The home has buildings that were
used when the house was first
constructed, such as a smokehouse
and a shed for drying the meats. The
house and barns still have the
original stone.
Stoskopf, who entered the
competition after learning about it
from a letter in the mail, won a large
wall clock at the awards presentation.
"He put a lot of work into it and
the judges were very impressed,"
Rachel said.
John and Corrie Boer were
surprised at the reaction over their
home in Atwood for the competition.
They placed first in the most
attractive farmstead category.
"We weren't going to enter the
competition," Corrie Boer said. "A
couple of people from the
competition came down to visit us
