The Rural Voice, 2005-10, Page 39Blessed with mostly sunny, warm weather, the 2005 International Plowing Match at Listowel drew large crowds. PERTH PUTS ON A SHOW Perth County made the most of its opportunity when it hosted the 2005 International Plowing Match outside Listowel, September 20-24. From Premier Dalton McGuinty, federal and provincial ministers of agriculture, to ordinary farm families and their neighbours from the towns and cities of the southwest, thousands flocked to the 2005 Photos by Keith Roulston International Plowing Match near Listowel, September 20-24. An unofficially estimated crowd of 100,000 filed through the gate of the 90 -acre tented city, held on the farms of David Carson and family. The Ontario Federation of Agriculture demonstrated good farm practices at its Envirofarm display (below left). Kids The 1,500 volunteers on 30 committees kept things running smoothly despite the large crowds that were attracted by the generally sunny weather. Special attractions this year enjoyed the pigs at Ontario Pork's Pig Mobile (below, right). 34 THE RURAL VOICE
