"I see the kids are back in school," said George McKenzie the other morning as he sat down for the morning meeting of the world advisory council, otherwise known as Mabel's coffee club. "Where have you been?" said Dave Winston. "The kids have been back for nearly a month. I guess you're getting too old to have kids in school so you're out of the loop." "I don't mean those kids," said George. "I mean the kids in parliament. Don't those politicians remind you of a particularly bad grade nine class before the teacher comes in?" "And some grade nine classes after the teacher came in," said Cliff Murray. "I remember a teacher or two who got run right out of the business." "Yeh, they quit or got fired if they couldn't keep control," said George. "Parliament just goes on like this forever." "I thought a lot of the kids who acted up the most were the kids who were likely to drop out of school," said Dave. "Maybe they went to parliament instead." "Naw, these are the smart kids who sat at the front of class and paid attention, went to university, became lawyers, then started acting out when they got elected to parliament," said George. "Don't you think all this has something to do with the fact we've got a minority government," said Cliff. "I mean they've all got the adrenaline flowing because at any moment the government could be defeated and we're off for an election." "Yeh, and there's all these idiots out there who want to go to proportional representation so we'll have minority governments all the time," said Dave.
