Other physically challenging
demonstrat-ions will be presented
through displays of acrobatics and
martial arts.
"Native Perth County talent" will
be exhibited through some old time
fiddlers and accordion players.
In honour of the county's strong
Swiss population, Swiss choirs vyill
take to the entertainment tent in the
County Exhibits section and a group
of men will perform on the alphorns:
long horns native to the mountains of
Switzerland.
Special Events, Bands and
Parades committee chair Jerry Smith
said the search for talent began more
than a year ago when the first ads
went out.
"We received a significant number
(of applications), but we couldn't fit
them all in," he says.
"The lounge has bands that are
just up-and-coming as well as ones
that have been around for a while"
Aspecial feature will be "South
Mountain" on Friday night,
who are bringing along a
former member of country group
"Farmer's Daughter", says Smith.
The RV Park will have
entertainment each night from 7-9:00
p.m., which is available only to
campers. Many of the daytime
performers will move to the park for
evening shows. .
And the list of performers
featured throughout the five days of
the IPM is extensive, with styles
from various genres and decades.
Just a sampling includes "Shaggy
Haggis", "Greenwood Hill
Bluegrass", "Frankie `D' and the
Dreamers", "Country Ways" and
"Leap of Faith".
The Wingham Heritage Theatre
Fiddle Show will take to the stage
twice on Friday.
The committee has also enlisted
the talents of some very well known
entertainers.
Terry Sumsion will perform
Tuesday afternoon at the Main
Centre Stage and Canadian country
music star George Fox will help
close out the 2005 IPM with two
shows on September 24.
The IPM Queen of the Furrow for
the next year will be chosen at the
crowning banquet on Thursday
