Rotary career adventure program set for August
Explore careers in agriculture,
horticulture and the environment at
Ridgetown. Ontario from August 21 -
August 24.
The Rotary Career Adventure
program is offering a three -and -a -
half -day event in late August for a
maximum of 110 students entering
Grades 10, 11 or 12 who are
interested in exploring careers in
agricultural. horticultural or
environmental fields.
Youth participants will be
travelling to local businesses to
discover Ontario's exciting and
plentiful career opportunities. The
program has been offered for several
years each time bringing positive
feedback.
There are several options available
for sponsorship: interested
participants can approach their local
Rotary Club, agricultural or
farm organization, local commodity
board, high school special
student funds, parents or self
sponsorship. or a combination of
various supporters. Last year Perth
County Federation of Agriculture
helped sponsor four youth to attend
this program.
The registration deadline is July
29. The registration fee remains at
$249 covering the costs of meals.

What have vve been working on at
Perth County Federation of
Agriculture?
• The Environment/Property
committee has been reviewing the
proposed changes to the County
Official Plan and have made
comments on three areas. They are
tarm parcel sizes, secondary tarm
businesses and expanded terms
of reference for peer review
committee.
• The committee has met \kith the
County Planner and the Community
Service Committee of County
Council.°
Information sessions to unveil grain and
oilseeds risk management program
Ontario grain and oilseed
producers are invited to attend
information sessions in locations
across the province for an unveiling
of the Ontario Grain and Oilseed
Safety Net Committee's Risk
Management Program (RMP). The
Committee is proposing the RMP as
a replacement for the now completed
MR1 program and to address the
shortfalls of the CAIS program for
grain and oilseed producers.
The proposed RMP has been
endorsed by the directors of all seven
grain and oilseed commodity boards
in Ontario.
