Approximately 8,000 rally at Queen's Park
On Wednesday, March 2,
approximately 8,000 farmers and
farm -related persons attended the
Action Rally at Queen's Park in
Toronto to protest the plight of
farmers in the province.
Six busloads attended that were
organized and planned for the Huron
Federation of Agriculture. As well
the Lucknow District Co-op in
Lucknow took the initiative and
planned their own busload to attend.
We wish to thank the Lucknow Co-op

There are many other thank-yous

Federation holds "Meet the Member" meeting
The Huron Federation of
•Agriculture held its annual "Meet the
Member" meeting with MPP Carol
Mitchell and MP Paul Steckle in
attendance.
Attendance at this year's meeting
was outstanding, showing the
concern that there is in the agriculture
field today. Sixty commodity
representatives, municipal representa-
tives, Huron County Federation
of Ag Board members and other
invited guests attended. This year,
diverting from our usual custom the
64 THE RURAL VOICE
Federation invited a member from
each agri-business that donated
toward the rally fund. This proved
to be very successful, as eight
of the groups had someone in
attendance.
The discussions were very lively
and informative consjsting of oil -
grain seed prices, BSE and border
closing, CAIS, food prices/labelling,
dead animal pick-up, supply
management and safety net programs.
We thank both Carol and Paul for
attending this meeting.0
