After attending a dairy meeting
in Perth County and hearing of
Perth County's program, John
Klaver of Kippen and Bill Wallace
of Seaforth decided to implement a
similar program in Huron.
Their "meat the needs" of
Huron's hungry program has
received 20 cows which were
processed and distributed to the six
food banks in Huron as well as the
Women's Shelter.
The cows have been processed
at a reduced rate by Thames Road
Country Meats, Exeter; Dashwood

Market, Wingham; Kranenburg
Butcher Shop, Lucknow;
Metzger's Meat Market, Hensall;
and Bachert Meats, Walton.
A number of businesses have
sponsored the processing of one
cow, $250 to $350 per cow
depending on size.
Wallace says there haven't been
many donations of cattle in recent
months but there is still a need and
the program is ready to help.
Anyone wishing to donate a cow or
sponsor the processing of a cow
